If you are interested in healthy eating, you have probably heard of the acid alkaline diet for optimum health. But perhaps you are uncertain about what this dietary option entails. Or you may be skeptical that this diet can really improve your health. Perhaps you have tried other diets without getting the results you wanted, and have concluded that all diets are nothing more than scams.

First of all, you’re not alone. A recent study showed that more and more Americans are giving up on the idea of dieting. This loss of innocence could be a positive development or a negative one. It’s a bad thing if people are abandoning any hope of improving their health through nutrition. True, many diets have failed to deliver on their hyped-up claims. But that doesn’t take away from the fact that your nutritional choices can profoundly affect your state of health.

But it’s a good thing if giving up on dieting means that people are moving away from a “quick fix” mentality, and instead settling in for a long-term effort to make smart decisions about how they eat.

If you are looking for a nutrition plan that is heavy on science and light on hype, you may be interested in the acid alkaline diet for optimum health. Actually, the term “diet” is somewhat misleading, since the purpose of this plan is not to shed 35 pounds in time for your high school reunion. Don’t worry, it can help you to achieve and maintain a healthy weight, but that’s really a side benefit of improving your overall health.

In addition, the acid alkaline diet isn’t something that you only follow for six weeks, and then go back to how you ate before. Once you have experienced the benefits of this diet firsthand, I am confident that you will not want to go back to how you felt before. No, the acid alkaline diet for optimum health is a sound nutritional approach that you can safely follow for the rest of your life.

The alkaline diet has become extremely trendy. Nonetheless, a lot of people who stand to benefit from an alkaline diet unhappily lose out on those benefits because they suppose that it will constrain them to surrender each of the items that they take pleasure in.

It isn’t difficult to realize where this alkaline diet myth has its origin. Like countless falsehoods, it has a bit of truth. Succeeding on the alkaline diet will require certain improvements in how you eat, especially if you happen to presently consume lots of junk food and animal foods. However, this doesn’t mean that an alkaline diet will require you to eat nothing but lettuce and brown rice.

Adapting successfully to an alkaline diet requires a little bit of ingenuity and the willingness to be open to new ideas. It’s viable to make delicious dishes, treats, and desserts using a wide variety of nutritious and alkaline-producing veggies, fruits, grains, and nuts and seeds.

Also, it’s not true that you must eliminate all acidifying foods if you want to have an alkaline diet. The objective of an alkaline diet is not to be as alkaline as possible. Instead, an aim is to attain the ideal acid-alkaline balance. For most individuals, this will mean moving closer to an alkaline diet. Most people have a diet that is heavily oriented towards acid-producing foods, such as meat, dairy foods, refined grains, and sugar. But this doesn’t mean that you need to give up all acid-producing foods to have an alkaline diet.

What I advise people is to focus on the “big wins” rather than the petty details. For instance, it is much more important to cut your intake of meat down to size than to fret about whether or not prunes or figs are acid-producing. In other words, focus your efforts where they will do the most good, and you’ll reap the rewards.

Over the past decade, lots of people have discovered the benefits of the alkaline diet. This popular nutritional approach can help you to lose weight, boost energy, and resolve many recurring ailments. In this article, I would like to discuss a small number of the most striking benefits of this up-and-coming diet.

The first good thing about the alkaline diet is that it can help you to have more energy. This is a big deal, since lots of people struggle to get through the day, even when they consume energy drinks to keep themselves going. Paradoxically, these caffeinated beverages can actually cause you to become more fatigued because they cause your body to become excessively acidic. The solution? A balanced diet to provide natural energy.

An additional advantage of the acid alkaline diet is natural weight loss, without counting calories. This is because the foods that are consumed on this kind of diet tend to be very filling, but comparatively low in calories. Instances include fresh vegetables and fruits, and some whole grains. In contrast, acid-forming foods like hamburgers and sugary snacks are often very high in calories.

Third, the alkaline diet can help to maintain bone strength by reducing the risk of osteoporosis. When your body becomes too acidic, it will do anything it can to get back in balance, even breaking down your own bone tissue to release alkaline-producing minerals. When you eat a well-balanced alkaline diet, you are simultaneously reducing the acid load and supplying your body with an abundance of alkaline minerals so that it is not forced to use up the minerals stored in your bones.

To conclude, the alkaline diet is not just for weight loss or one specific health concern. Actually, there are numerous benefits which you can take advantage of by beginning an alkaline diet today.

In this article, I want to take a moment to deflate a few of the widespread myths concerning the alkaline diet. Because it isn’t as well-known as certain other approaches, this diet has been the subject of quite a lot of misinformation. Fortunately, the reality of this way of eating is significantly more appealing then you may have been led to think.

The first myth is that in order to adopt an alkaline diet, you need to give up all acidifying foods. The reality, however, is that the goal of this diet isn’t to go to an extreme, but rather to achieve an ideal balance between acid-forming and alkalizing foods. Translation: Twenty to thirty-five percent of the foods you consume can still be acidifying.

The second myth regarding an acid alkaline diet is that it forces you to quit eating all animal foods and become a vegan. Okay, you will very likely have more success on an alkaline diet if you lower your intake of meat and dairy foods. These foods are rich in protein, which has an acid-producing effect on your internal environment. But you still need some protein, which can come from either animal or vegetable sources. Provided that you exercise moderation, you don’t have to quit eating animal products altogether–unless you would like to, of course.

The third myth regarding the alkaline diet is that it’s just a dietetic fad. The truth is that scientific studies have verified the ability of alkaline foods to fight osteoporosis, preserve muscle strength in older adults, and more.

In short, the alkaline diet has more benefits and fewer drawbacks than you may have been led to believe. The downside is minimal, so why not give the alkaline diet a try for a few weeks, and see what it can do for you?

The Paleo Diet Explained

The first food pyramid came out in 1992, with the simple advice of consuming a high carbohydrate low fat diet. Not very long after the food pyramid was introduced, an increasing amount of research began to indicate that the food pyramid provided unhealthy nutritional education to the general public.

With the research conducted, the evidence displayed, the 1992 food pyramid over simplified the human diet. Nutritionists knew that essential fatty acids, including omega3’s (commonly found in fish) where necessary in achieving good health, yet it still appeared at the top of the pyramid with the recommendation that less of healthy is better for you.

The reason behind this was the concern over high cholesterol, which has been associated with a high risk of heart disease. As a basic recommendation to reduce the number of people developing high cholesterol levels, the advice was to lower their saturated fat intake, which is not only found in some oils, but the paleo recipe favourite red meat; which is the human bodies preferred source of protein, so it also appeared further up in the food pyramid.

Early on in 1990, research started showing that fat is indeed important for the healthy function of the human body, as a result, in 2005 a new food pyramid was designed. The main difference within the food pyramid was the addition of an exercise regime, a lower recommendation of pasta, breads and cereals and a greater importance placed on including healthy fats into the diet. In addition, a website was designed to provide a food pyramid recommendation for your personal age, gender and activity levels. Although this provided improvements upon the previous 1992 pyramid, it still placed a high emphasis on the recommendation of grains as well as dairy; these two foods are extremely detrimental towards our health.

The paleo diet is simple; eat what was available to the hunter gatherer. In other words, eat meat (beef, game, fowl, etc), fish and seafood, eggs, fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds to create nothing but healthy diet recipes. Research has shown that our hunter gatherer ancestors consumed their energy source in a ratio of 65% animal and 35% plant.

These foods are what our bodies have been created to eat and digest for over fifty thousand years, these food sources are available to us without the need to cook or process them. Animal meat, fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds have been the main food source since the existence of man, even before we knew how to create fire. These are the foods our body needs, the human bodies where meant to live healthy on a diet full of artificial sugars and chemicals, then nature would have provided it to us in our food supply, nature didn’t decide to wait thousands of years for our technology to be superior enough to alter food sources, for them to suddenly be healthy for us.

In this article, I would like to discuss the virtues of an alkaline diet for older adults. The so-called golden years can either be a blessing or a curse, depending on whether you’re in sound health or plagued with ailments. Besides frequent exercise and an upbeat outlook, a healthy alkaline diet can make a big difference in how well you age.

Older adults often lose muscle mass, partially because kidney function diminishes as they grow older. When that occurs, acids accumulate in the body, which must find a solution to counteract them. Often, the body will react by breaking down muscle tissue to discharge alkaline-forming minerals. This coping mechanism will keep you alive, but at the price of muscle strength. By eating according to an the alkaline diet, you can keep this from happening.

Naturally, the biggest sources of minerals in the body are your bones and teeth. Consequently, when you eat a low-alkaline diet, your system often reacts by breaking down your bones in order to release alkaline minerals. Rather than trying to fix osteoporosis after it happens, it’s better to prevent it by following this kind of diet.

A third benefit of the alkaline diet is the preservation of kidney function. Your kidneys are the primary organ for the removal of the acids that are created by an acid-forming diet. Experts suggest that following the alkaline diet can help to preserve kidney function as you age, and even reduce the danger of some types of kidney stones.

As you can see, this diet has countless health benefits for people of all ages. Nevertheless, I believe that these rewards are especially significant for older adults, whose reduced kidney function makes them less able to cope with the excess acid created by the typical Western diet. Following a healthy alkaline diet can enhance your health.

You carefully check your garden soil to see whether it is more acidic or alkaline before putting in costly flowers, so why would you not do the same for your body before feeding it? Just as some plants will not survive in soil that is too acidic or alkaline, the body tends to be healthiest when its internal pH is slightly alkaline.

When you’re in the garden, you can change acidity and alkalinity by amending the soil with nutrients capable of changing its pH. Similarly, the body’s acid-alkaline balance can be altered by avoiding low-alkaline foods.

The following three kinds of food are all common causes of a low-alkaline diet once they get inside your body. They should be limited or avoided on the alkaline diet. Take note of the fact that many of them have also been associated with cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, and other health problems!

Fried Foods

The processed white flour used to coat fried foods is acidifying inside the body, and then you use the worst saturated fats to fry it. Finally, consider the fact that some of the most commonly fried foods are bad for you to begin with, and you understand why fried foods are an all-around bad idea for the alkaline diet.

Baked Goods

They may be hard to resist, but almost all baked goods are loaded with sugar, cheap fats, and artificial ingredients. Besides, they are made using processed white flour unless you make certain to purchase something made with 100 percent whole grains. These foods provide little fiber or nutritional value for your body, but they can do a great deal of harm.

Soft Drinks

These fizzy drinks are loaded with sugar. Most are also made with phosphoric acid, which makes them still more acid-forming. Zero-calorie options are not any better, as they are made with acid-forming artificial sweeteners.

If you are wondering how you will avoid all of these low-alkaline diet foods while still eating meals that are satisfying, think of alkaline-forming options that can fill in for your favorite foods on this list. Give it some time and you will find yourself so vibrant and full of energy that you won’t mind saying goodbye to anything on this list!

Today, I would like to discuss the benefits of the alkaline diet for helping to protect strong bones and reduce the danger of bone fractures brought about by osteoporosis.

Osteoporosis is by far the most common bone disease in the world today. Although it is most typical among elderly women, men and even young people can experience considerable bone loss. The incidence of osteoporosis also varies appreciably among different nations, with high levels within the United States and other urbanized nations where people eat a low-alkaline diet, but very low levels in certain less-developed countries that eat a traditional alkaline diet.

To understand how the acid alkaline diet can help prevent osteoporosis, we must understand why too much acidity is negative to your bones. The solution is pretty simple. When your body becomes overly acidic, it tries to return itself to balance. Among the many ways it tries to accomplish this task is by taking alkaline minerals from your bones. After the minerals have been used to neutralize excess acid, they are excreted from your body. When this process continues year after year, the effect can be significant bone loss, leaving you at risk of a sudden fracture.

So how can the alkaline diet help? First, by limiting your acid load caused by acidifying foods, such as meat, dairy foods, refined grains, and sugar. Secondly, the alkaline diet can increase the supply of alkalizing minerals in your diet, especially potassium, which is abundant in many fresh fruits and vegetables. In short, you’ll be putting more minerals in, and letting fewer minerals out.

In conclusion, osteoporosis is not only caused by menopause and calcium deficiency. The latest studies show that diet and lifestyle also play important roles. By following a healthy alkaline diet and making a few other simple lifestyle changes, you can preserve your bone strength for life.
