Treatment of Type 2 Diabetes

Dealing With Diabetes

I have Type 2 diabetes and have been battling it for several years. So far,so good.I’ve managed to control it but still take medication (glyburide/metmorphin).I’d like to manage my diabetes without needing any medication. That sounds simple, but it’s actually pretty difficult–you must do it forever. The solution theoretically is simple–lose weight, alter your diet, and exercise regularly. It can be done but it takes will power. What gave me the will power to do something about it was a stern warning from my cardiologist–either fix your diabetes problem or look forward to a shoterned, very disabling departure from this mortal coil.If my doctor had said that to me when I was 21, I would have shrugged it off. But I was 60 now and coming around the far turn of my life, so each year now is precious,! So I turned over a new leaf–diet and exercise became part of my daily life. You can do it if you have the motivation. You can beat diabetes naturally if you change your lifestyle. Consider this–there are cultures and populations in the world right now where diabetes is virtually non-existent. So why do we see so much of here in the U.S..S.?

What id Diabetes?

Some people are born with type 1 diabetes or develop it when they are young children. This type of diabetes usually requires insulin and aggressive blood sugar management. There is no cure for Type 1 diabetes. Type 1 diabetes accounts for only 5% of the total cases of diabetes. Type 2 is the one we can beat, or at least control.

Diabetes is a life-threatening disease? Very! The early symptoms of untreated diabetes mellitus are related to the elevated blood sugar, or glucose, levels. Excessive levels of blood sugar reult in higher levels of sugar in your urine. This increases the urine output, which leads to dehydration and increased thirst. Other symptoms include blurred vision, extreme tiredness, and stuborn infections that just seem to take forever to clear up.I myself used to feel lttle sharp pains in my feet and fingers. These are more like sharp “pings” of pain. When diabetes is advanced, the body starts to fall apart–blindness, amputation, kidney failure.

Another form of diabetes, known as gestational diabetes, occurs in some women during pregnancy. It is a temporary condition caused by pregnancy and usually occurs in the later stages, once the baby has formed but is still growing

Although there is currently no cure for diabetes mellitus, it can be controlled successfully with an active treatment plan. The potential benefit of pancreas transplants and islet cell transplants in Type 1 patients is being investigated.

Symptoms of Diabetes?

Most Type 1 sufferers get it early in their lives. The classic signs of diabetes include:

1. Frequent urination, because the body is trying to get rid of the excess sugar in the blood
2. Excessive thirst, since your body experienced increased urination and loses fluids
3. Increased hunger, because the cells need nutrients
4. Loss of weight, because the body begins to starve without insulin.

The onset of Type 2 diabetes is often very gradual and may develop without any symptoms at all. Regretably, most diagnoses come after the person already has it. It results from inactivity and a poor diet. It’s normally referred to as “Adult Diabetes” because 90% of diabetic sufferers are Type 2 and develop it later in their lives. Sadly, because of our sedentary lifestyle these days and the easy availibility of junk and fast food, we’re seeing more cases of Type 2 diabetes develop among teenagers and even younger children who are obese.

Your weight affects your health in many ways. Being overweight can keep your body from making and using insulin properly. It can also lead to hypertension. The Diabetes Prevention Program, a three-year clinical trial conducted on diabeste patients last year, showed that losing even a few pounds can help reduce your risk of developing type 2 diabetes because it helps your body use insulin more effectively. In the clinical study people experiencing a 5-7% weight loss saw significant reduction of diabetes risk. So here’s a little bit of info–if you lost twenty pounds, kept it off, started to exercise on a regular basis, your blood sugar levels would drop significantly!

Living a healthy lifestyle can be very hard. With all the stresses of daily life it can sometimes be hard to plan a decent meal that is not loaded with calories. Even though the healthy living magazines and news are constantly telling us that eating healthy is important it can sometimes be hard to achieve.

The reasons are many but the solutions are ones that require discipline. Without having the will to succeed most people will not be able to truly get all that weight off before it kills them. The reasons also lie in that society is becoming more flawed as societal roles are reversed.

Obesity is not only killing people by giving them heart attacks it is also making them suffer even more because of the increase in type2 diabetes.

And on a daily basis getting time to exercise can almost seem like an impossible mission. That is why so many people are getting fatter and fatter due to the high consumption of ready meals that are loaded with sugar and salt.

With this comes all the health issue associated with obesity such as type2 diabetes. Type 2 diabetes is the most common type of diabetes due to the fact that obesity can influence the way your body produces insulin.

Families Are Responsible For Preventing Type2 Diabetes.

The truth of the matter is that families really need to support each other in these hard times. The cost of living is constantly going up and being unhealthy and sickly is not going to help. Medical bills as well as daily life bills can get too much to pay. And if you have a partner who has type2 diabetes it can be hard to support them and the rest of the family.

That is why families need to enthuse each other about healthy eating sot that they do not develop type2 diabetes. It is not an illness that is easily curable, as it requires time and dedication. It also requires the patient to change their diets and some special foods can be costly there preventing the need for a type 2 diabetes diet is a much better option.

However it does not need to come to that if families start making those changes now. Taking a walk in the park or just having a Saturday swimming at the beach are some of the fun activities that can keep the fat at bay and its companion type2 diabetes. It is not about changing the world but about changing those loved ones. Food should not be used as a reward as it should be associated with times spent together prolonging and not shorting life.

It is clear now more than ever that information is vital in order for making the correct decisions about your health. Information is available about all kinds of illness both online and at your doctors surgery and most doctors always try to give their patients leaflets containing relevant information about their disease.

There are organizations that are also very useful in providing the necessary juvenile diabetes information and without these most people would still find it hard to deal with juvenile diabetes.

It is in the understanding of this juvenile diabetes information that can make a different to a persons life as sometimes you might not think too much if you were exhibiting the signs of juvenile diabetes.

You might never know what the symptoms mean and in that you could be prolonging treatment. Information about juvenile diabetes or type 2 diabetes is about letting you know what you are dealing with and what to expect.

Juvenile Diabetes Information Giving You A Better Picture

People sometimes always think the worst when they hear the word diabetes and the juvenile diabetes information is about helping ease those worries. It is not necessary to have to worry too much about something that might not be necessarily curable but at least there is treatment in place for it.

When you have a disease you end up worrying about your life expectancy all this is often explained in the juvenile diabetes information leaflets and websites. The juvenile diabetes information websites are also valuable in that they let you knows what new research is being done to make things easier for the juvenile diabetes’s suffers.

It is understandable that as humans we tend to worry more about something that is not very clear. However it seems that because of the easy availability of diabetes information most people are able to lead a normal life. It is also clear that not everyone will have a family member to take care of them when they are suffering from diabetes so these juvenile diabetes information leaflets can help lead them to the right place to which they can go.

Through the availability of this information a many people have come to see diabetes as not a life altering illness as they thought. They might have found some companionship and friendships that have been forged through the illness. The hard times are not to be spent alone and people are realizing this through the assessing of the juvenile diabetes information packs or leaflets.

Blood clotting which can also lead to high blood pressure or hypertension is one of the risks a diabetic person can acquire because of lesser amount of insulin.

Understanting what diabetes is all about is the first thing that you need to do if you are prone to it. According to medical experts, diabetes illness is caused by the incapability of utilizing glucose in their food as energy. The illness develops when the accumulated glucose stays in the person’s bloodstream for a long time. Over a period of time, this amount of glucose, can bring potential harm to the person’s other organs such as the eyes, kidneys, heart, and even the nerves themselves.

Presently, there are 3 kinds of diabetes–the type 1, type 2, and the gestational diabetes. Knowing what they are and what sets each one apart from one other will help people who are prone to diabetes where to focus in trying to manage their condition.

If you suspect you have a type one diabetes, information  related type 1 diabetes mellitus can contribute for you to become more aware. Type 1 diabetes otherwise known as “juvenile diabetes” or “insulin-dependent diabetes,” is categorized as the least common type of diabetes there is. Experts say that it is an auto-immune disease that makes the body’s immune system—which serves as a shield against infection—gone not of working order, thus, savaging the cells placed in the pancreas which is responsible for producing insulin. For people—especially those who are prone to diabetes—insulin is very important in breaking down the food once eaten.

Next is the type 2 diabetes, which is also known as “non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus” and “adult-onset diabetes”. The difference of this type on the type 1 is that the person suffering from this has the ability to make insulin it’s just that the amount produced in not enough for the body to use it efficiently. If you suspect you have this type, type 2 diabetes prevalence is a topic that can help you more aware on this disease.

This type is categorized as the usual type of diabetes, which normally prevalent among individuals who are more htan 40 years old. People who are prone to this type of diabetes are usually those who are overweight or obese and those that have sedentary lifestyle. Type 2 diabetes, being a progressive disease, can also lead to more medical problems like heart and kidney diseases. People who suffer from type 2 diabetes are also characterized by slow or onset thirstiness, repeated urination, and loss of weight usually develops is a span of weeks to weeks.

The last type is called “gestational diabetes” which develops during pregnancy (read also gestational diabetes research). Commonly, gestational diabetes ends after giving birth but there are also cases that this develop to other type of diabetes as they get older. Gestational diabetes, though it is common among pregnant women, should be monitored because there’s a big chance of leading to type 2 diabetes.

Diabetes is a disorder that affects men and women nation wide on a daily basis. In both Type 1 and Type 2 versions of the disorder, physical health and weight regulation are important to a sufferers overall well-being. So what is the difference between Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes? Type 1 diabetics are typically diagnosed before the age of 40 with the disease that occurs when the body does not produce insulin. The other form of diabetes, Type 2, is a result of low insulin efficiency. In other words, the insulin is not as effective in removing sugar from the blood and to the person’s cells. With Type 2 Diabetes, weight loss is even more essential.

Begin With A Goal

One of the best places to start to achieve diabetes weight loss is with a realistic goal. Discuss with your doctor your ideal healthy weight and how long he or she anticipates it will take you to get there. Understand that losing weight quickly may seem more satisfying; however, the healthier way to lose is slowly at around two pounds per week.

Portion Control and Calorie Counting

As with other weight loss programs, diabetes weight loss requires that you have a strong thumb on the portion sizes and the number of calories you are putting in your mouth. A baseball is the size of one serving of vegetables. A deck of cards is approximately the size of a serving of meat, chicken or fish. A golf ball is about the size of one quarter up of dried fruits or nuts. If eyeballing it doesn’t work for you in your diabetes weight loss plan, consider speaking to a nutritionist and measuring food for a while.

In regards to calories, 3,500 equals approximately one pound of fat. If 3,500 calories are eating that are not used, it seems to reason that a pound can easily be put on. Similarly, if you can burn 3,500 extra calories a week by reducing your calorie intake and increasing your exercise routine, a pound can be taken off in that week.

Maintenance

With Type 2 diabetes, weight loss is incredibly important to maintain. This can be done with the utilization of a balanced diet and an exercise routine. Remember to consult your doctor on a diet plan that is right for you and your diabetes weight loss plan.

The number of diabetics around the world are increasing day by day. The symptoms of diabetes are different from person to person. They are generally mistaken for different ailments.  Diabetes is caused due to the inability of insulin in the body to control the level of sugar in the blood. One should consult the doctor for further management and treatment if he is not sure about the symptoms of diabetes.

Diabetes can be Type 1 or juvenile diabetes, Type 2, and gestational diabetes. There is similarity between the symptoms of Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. In both the situations the quantity of glucose in the blood is more and the cells of the body are unable to absorb glucose. The high level of glucose in Type 1 diabetes that affects children, toddlers to teenagers is due to the lack of insulin as the insulin producing cells are destroyed. In second type of diabetes the cells of the body become resistant to insulin. By giving different warning signs the cells awares you about the absence of glucose.

The most common sign of diabetes is frequent urination. The excess amount of glucose leads you frequently to bathroom. Due to insulin ineffectiveness the kidneys do not filter glucose properly and draw water out of blood to dilute the glucose. This keeps your bladder full. Owing to the concentration of glucose in blood the brain activates blood dilution process resulting in increased feeling of thirst.

Because of lack of enough quantity of water for the cells, you feel fatigue and dehydration. The energy requirements of the body is fulfilled by the reserve fat as the cells are unable to metabolize glucose. The body experiences fatigue because of negative calorie effect. It may also result in the feeling of uneasiness and irritability as the amount of glucose supply to the brain and other organs is very less.

Weight loss without any effort happens more commonly in Type 1 diabetes patients. The pancreas stop making insulin because of the autoimmune response of the body. As the cells do not get glucose the body is in need of other source of energy. It breaks down the muscle tissues and fat for energy causing weight loss.

As the glucose levels are high in the body the skin becomes dry and is itching always. Moreover any cuts, bruises and infections take longer to heal. You may come across frequent skin infections like fungal and Urinary tract infections. The condition of the body called as hypersmolar, hyperglycemia non ketotic syndrome cause body fluid from tissue including lenses of the eyes being pulled. This causes blurring of vision and affects the ability of eyes to focus.

The progress of diabetes damages the nervous system, particularly the extremities. Second type of diabetes is gradual and people generally miss the initial signs. The levels of blood sugar is static at high position for years without diagnosis. We may not know about nerve damage. The hands, legs or feet are numb due to this.

If you detect any of the above signs of diabetes in a person around you consult a doctor. With relevant tests you will be able to know about diabetes. Diabetes can be controlled without take over by medication on time.
